Glow Smoothie Recipe

One of the things I’m so passionate about around breastfeeding (along with many others!) is good nutrition for the mother. Moms do infinitely much better if their energy levels are taken care of by good nutrition, NOT for milk supply but for THEM. Good nutrition means a healthy mom will have sustained energy needs to cope with the demand of feeding in the early days.

Whether you’re an expectant mom, or a friend or relative of one, these recipes are great. Homemade treats, or smoothie supplies are a great way for you to spoil a new mom.

Two of my favourites are the from Giorgina Slotar, Clinical nutritionist and Founder of the Glow App.

Lactation Smoothie Recipe:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

  • ¼ cup organic rolled oats

  • ½ cup pure organic coconut milk

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1 medjool date

  • 1 tbs flaxeed meal (ground flaxeed)

  • 1 tbs chia seeds

  • 1 tsp brewers yeast

  • 1 serve unflavoured natural protein powder.

Blend, feed, repeat!
